How To Lock Windows Key On Ducky One 2 Mini

60% Keyboard (Ducky I 2 Mini) configuration - Part ane

I recently got a Ducky One two Mini. It's pretty expert, and the threescore% layout is almost perfect for me ^ane. But I have a couple of concerns/employ cases for which I need to configure the keyboard slightly:

• As there is no Part Row, the Escape primal is where the `/~ would usually exist. My existing configuration already binds my Caps Lock to function as both my Escape and Control, while keeping the LCtrl as is and irresolute Escape to Caps Lock. Long story brusk, I need the ` more than I demand the Escape key (Caps Lock).
• The default position of the Function primal isn't bully, so I would like it correct next to the Spacebar. This happens to line up with what's needed for the adjacent betoken.
• There are some times where I do need dedicated pointer keys, such as when playing Hollow Knight. ²

This will be done entirely with Ducky'south internal configuration – at the keyboard software level – using keyboard profiles and macros. To get a hang of that, check your manual. The instructions will presume 0 knowledge of these functions, just it's best if you practice figure information technology out.

(Reminder: my Escape key is actually a Caps Lock, so I don't listen losing information technology. The process volition make Caps Lock inaccessible.)

This is achieved by setting upward a macro to register ` when the Escape key is pressed.

• Starting time, switch over to a free contour using Fn + Alt + number. The corresponding number on the keyboard and Caps Lock will flash for about a 2d. I used Profile 2; anything that is not Profile one will work.
• Now, to actually record the macro:
  • Enter the macro recording mode by holding down on Fn + Alt + Tab for iii seconds. The unabridged keyboard will flash for a 2nd, and so just the Function and Caps Lock keys will exist lit up, blinking slowly.
  • Remapping Escape to ` : press the key to be mapped to an output – Esc, in this case. This key will now low-cal up, blinking fast. Then, enter the input sequence this fundamental will map to ⁱⁱⁱ, which is here the ` fundamental, or Fn + Esc. To end recording the macro, press Fn + Alt, and the blinking volition become slow again. You can tape other macros in the same mode.
  • End the macro recording mode by property down once more on Fn + Alt + Tab for a 2d. ^iv

For this, I used the DIP switches on the back of the keyboard. Check this reddit post if you want to sympathize how they work.

We'll be using a single characteristic – switch one. Switch it to the "ON" position. This changes the layout every bit follows:

This is achieved with macros, enabling the DIP switch 1, and sacrificing the right control array – (Right) Alt, Super, Control, and Shift are replaced past Left, Down, Right, and Upwardly respectively. You lot might wish to change these keys if any of them are part of your daily keyboard shortcuts. If, for example, you want to switch l, ;, ', and p instead, enabling DIP 1 isn't necessary either.

We follow the macro recording procedure again. I advise you utilise the Left Alt primal and not the Correct Alt for the recording process.

• Offset, switch over to a gratis contour using Fn + Alt + number. The corresponding number on the keyboard and Caps Lock will flash for nigh a second. I used Profile half dozen; anything that is not Profile ane will piece of work.
• Now, to record the macros:
  • Enter the macro recording mode past property downwardly on Fn + Alt + Tab for 3 seconds. The entire keyboard will wink for a second, and then only the Function and Caps Lock keys will be lit upwards, blinking slowly.

  • Remapping the keys to their pointer equivalents: printing the key to be mapped to an output. Take (Correct) Alt every bit an instance, to be mapped to Left (aka Fn + j). This key will now light up, blinking fast. Then, enter the input sequence this key will map to ³, which is here the Left primal, or Fn + j. To terminate recording the macro, press Fn + Alt, and the blinking will become boring again. Repeat this for the other 3 directional keys. For a quick reference,

  • End the macro recording style by holding down again on Fn + Alt + Tab for a second. ^iv

This volition merely be active in your profile configured, so you can switch to it only for very specific case, as I do.
